BUSINESS IDEAS THAT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT FOUNDING A COMPANY -
Old business ideas—new business ideas
The rapid development of information technology has led to an economic transformation: Occupations and services have disappeared, and a whole range of new businesses have been born.
In the first seventy years of the 1900s, precision mechanics was still one of the best professions. They repaired typewriters and classic, cellulose film cameras. Then, as classic typewriters and cameras disappeared, so did precision mechanics. They were no longer needed. After all, repairing computers, smartphones, and digital cameras that replaced classic typewriters and cameras is no longer profitable. By the time they need to be repaired, they are technically completely obsolete. Meanwhile, the price of new-generation equipment is falling so rapidly that repairing the old one costs more than buying a much better, capable piece of equipment.
A few decades ago, printing houses producing city maps were among the most profitable printing houses. City maps were printed in thousands and in the case of larger cities, in tens or hundreds of thousands. Each map could hold more than a hundred advertisements. In the case of more expensive advertisements, the advertiser was marked on the map with a small special sign. Those who were also marked in the street list on the back of the map had to pay significantly more than traditional advertisements. This list helped the map user to find the given street using the map's grid. Of course, the maps were sold for quite a lot of money. Usually, the sale of 1000-1500 copies covered the production costs, and further sales were pure profit. When our first product was released, we sold a thousand in the first month. The advertisements generated enough income for approximately one year. But the map was still in demand by customers for 3-4 years after its release. That's when we printed the new edition. Of course, with new, paid advertisements, most of which were ordered and paid for a second time by the previous advertisers.
Today, in the world of location-based systems, no one would think of buying a city map. And it would be difficult to sell advertising space for a publication that no one was looking for.
Today, website creation and maintenance is a highly profitable profession. But how long will it be like this? There are more and more and better systems that allow even those with little knowledge of IT to create beautiful websites for themselves. (I would still work as a website creator, but I would organize my work a little differently than the vast majority of website creators.)
Internet sales are also expanding at a tremendous pace. I am not wrong in saying that within a year or two there will be more online trading than traditional trading. For some goods, online sales have a huge advantage. Of course, not all products can be sold online. Due to the buying habits of customers, selling some products in the classic old form is much more effective. But a huge reorganization is certainly expected in this area in the coming years.
You should definitely take these facts into account if you want to start a business. Don't get involved in something that already has little to no existence. Rather, ride on the ideas of businesses that are capable of developing in the future.
